The 3 days were fun packed with a trip to Akshardham Temple, on the outskirts of Delhi. A modern temple made from sandstone. It’s a new temple. Massive with loads of carvings and statues. It’s just a shame we weren’t allowed to take pictures. It seems that these big modern temples are a bit like amusement parks for Indians, there was a food court, snack stops and you could have your photo take with the temple as the backdrop for 100 rupees, which we went for. The cheesy picture is now up next to the tele.
In the courtyard, there were people selling their wares, we approached a man’s stall selling textiles, wall hangings and cushion covers. All beautiful. There was a pile of them on the floor, which turned out to be his wife – gave us a real fright as the pile of cloth moved!
We took a photo of the couple selling handmade textiles – the woman was so beautiful with the most amazing outfit and jewellery.
44 degrees centigrade?! Ouch.
